Kotobukiya’s hit line of Marvel Comics’ Avengers ARTFX+ Statues paved the way for the next incredible comic-based series in this great scale, the X-Men of Marvel Now! In 2012 the comic book company relaunched several titles, shifting some characters into different books and updating some for a modern audience. More than anything, it provided a perfect jumping on point for new readers. Now the characters are brought to life as never before based on concept artwork by superstar artist Adi Granov, who was also responsible for the Avengers series. Starting the X-Men off right is of course the team leader and longtime mutant champion, CYCLOPS! Scott Summers was one of the original five teenaged X-Men who trained with Professor Xavier, and ever since he’s led X-Men as they fight for the survival of mutants everywhere. Cyclops was so named for his monocular ruby quartz visor that he flipped open to unleash powerful optic blasts against his opponents. In his Marvel Now! appearance, though, Summers has a bold new design and look. Following his interaction with the Phoenix Force in AvX (Avengers vs. X-Men) Cyclops wears a new, darker costume befitting his renegade status. The X-Man stands poised to unleash an optic blast at his enemies, stepping forward threateningly with his fists raised. His Marvel Now! look consists of a nearly full body dark suit with all sorts of cool details, a belt with X-symbol buckle and pouches, and more. Replacing the classic horizontal, rectangular visor is a striking new “X” across Cyclops’ face which looks amazing in this presentation! Sculpted by the same master artist who did the Marvel Now! Avengers series, Junosuke Abe, Cyclops stands just under 8 inches tall (in the ARTFX+ 1/10th scale) on his included magnetic display base. Start your Marvel Now! X-Men collection with this champion of mutant rights and look for the rest of his team coming soon!
